Artist Katie Gerard
Hi there and thank you for stopping by, my name is Katie and I am the creator and maker behind Efflorescentmetals. I started my metalsmithing journey over 10 years ago while in college and needing a creative outlet, so I decided to take a jewelry class at my local arts center. I immediately fell in love with the total hands on process of the forming and creating in metals and oh my did I fall for all the beautiful stones too! I make handcrafted and fabricated sterling silver jewelry and occasionally dabble in gold with semi precious stones such Turquoise's anything else that catches my eye. After about 2 years of taking classes I decided it was time to set up my own personal studio at home and that now is where I can be found most days if not spending time with my family or enjoying the great outdoors. Designs and Creative Process
I can say there are several areas that my work has been inspired and driven by and I enjoy getting to explore them all. To start with I love the natural and organic nature in jewelry making, and am drawn to nature themed elements many times in my works. at other times I am inspired by all the beautiful Southwest Native designs that are so well crafted and unique to their origins. And then occasionally I just enjoy the making of the simpler and modern jewelry pieces for everyday wear. Finally, I always endeavor to make well crafted and wearable jewelry for others to enjoy and hopefully for many generations to come.
